Earlier this year, Canada decided to make sure it’s not buying products made by forced labor as a part of its new strategy to combat forced labor abroad. A decision that was urgently needed, as Canada is already lagging behind the rest of the world on tackling this particular issue: unlike other governments across the world Canada lacked legal frameworks that go beyond trusting voluntary corporate social responsibility.
The new strategy being pursued is part of Canada’s National Strategy To Combat Human Trafficking 2019-2024 which was announced in September 2019.
