Breaking News: Agreement on EU Conflict Minerals Regulation Reached

Today, the EU Commission, EU Parliament, and EU Council reached an agreement on the final shape of an EU Conflict Minerals Regulation. Brokered the EU Commission, the agreement on the Regulation will ensure that 95% of all EU imports of tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold are sourced responsibly. They will be covered by due diligence provisions as of January 1, 2021. The agreement still has to be confirmed by member states. It is expected that the EU Council's Presidency will present the agreed text for approval by member states' ambassadors on December 7, 2016.
