A recently released report by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) found that 17 sectors of the British economy are high risk for exploitation and abuse of workers. Slavery was found in construction, nail bars, recycling and car washes, other sectors that were highlighted were food packing, agriculture, fishing, shellfish gathering, garment manufacturing, warehouse and distribution, taxi driving, social care, retail, and domestic work. There has been a drastic increase in reported cases of slavery in the UK, and it is one of Europe’s leading destinations for trafficking of workers for purposes of labour exploitation.
