ECHA Adds Two Hazardous Chemicals to Candidate List

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has updated its Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC) by adding two new chemicals, bringing the total to 235 entries. These new additions include one substance toxic for reproduction and another that is very persistent and bioaccumulative, commonly used in products such as inks, toners, and plastics.

The newly listed chemicals highlight ECHA’s commitment to regulating hazardous chemicals. If these substances are placed on the Authorisation List in the future, companies will need EU authorisation to continue using them.

The new entries include:

  • diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide
  • bis(4-chlorophenyl) sulphone
