EMRT 2.11 Released: New RMI Update for Extended Minerals Reporting

The Responsible Minerals Initiative has released EMRT 2.11 on April 17, 2026. The Extended Minerals Reporting Template is used to collect due diligence information on cobalt, copper, natural graphite, lithium, natural mica and nickel in a standardized format.

Main Changes in EMRT 2.11

EMRT 2.11 is the latest version of RMI’s standardized Extended Minerals Reporting Template. The update was published on April 17, 2026, together with the latest versions of the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template: CMRT 6.6 and the Additional Minerals Reporting Template: AMRT 1.31.

  • EMRT 2.11 supports standardized supplier reporting for cobalt, copper, natural graphite, lithium, natural mica and nickel. These minerals are increasingly relevant for responsible sourcing, battery supply chains and customer-specific due diligence requirements.

  • The new version includes updated ISO short names for countries, states and provinces, a correction to the date input field in the Declaration tab, and updates to the Smelter Reference List and Standard Smelter List.

These changes help companies improve the consistency and reliability of supplier data. They are especially relevant for organizations collecting information on battery-related and other prioritized minerals beyond the traditional 3TG scope. According to RMI, the next EMRT version is expected in spring 2027.

Impact for Companies: How Does EMRT 2.11 Affect Manufacturers and Suppliers

Manufacturers, suppliers and importers should review their extended minerals reporting processes and switch supplier requests to EMRT 2.11 where applicable. This is particularly relevant for companies that collect mineral due diligence information for automotive, electronics, battery, industrial manufacturing or customer-specific responsible sourcing requirements.

The updated country and region names, corrected date field and revised smelter lists can help reduce data inconsistencies in supplier responses. Compliance teams should also check whether their supplier portals, upload processes and validation rules are already aligned with the new version.

  • A practical note: RMI provides a list of currently identified processors under the EMRT scope. This list may expand as additional processors are confirmed and should be checked when validating supplier data.

  • Important: RMI does not recognize modified versions of the Extended Minerals Reporting Template that were not developed through its cross-industry consensus process. Companies should therefore use the official EMRT version provided by RMI.

  • Tip: RMI also provides an EMRT Completion Guide for EMRT v. 2.11. The guide helps users complete the template correctly and can be especially useful for questions related to declarations, mineral scope, processor information and validation.
