The Product Carbon Footprint indicates the total greenhouse gas emissions a product generates throughout its entire life cycle – from production to disposal. In the IMDS context, the scope is limited to emissions from production up to the point of delivery to the customer (from cradle-to-gate).
Starting in 2025, many OEMs will require their suppliers to include PCF data in IMDS. In other words: no PCF, no contract. While currently still voluntary, let’s be honest — what starts as voluntary often becomes mandatory sooner than expected.
