ECHA Adds Five Hazardous Chemicals to Candidate List

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has added five new substances to its Candidate List of chemicals of very high concern (SVHC), which now includes 240 entries. Companies are legally required to manage the risks of these chemicals and inform customers about their safe use.

The new additions include substances used in products such as inks, adhesives, and cleaning products; one is toxic for reproduction, three are very persistent and bioaccumulative, and one has multiple hazardous properties. Additionally, ECHA updated the entry for dibutyl phthalate, now classified as an endocrine disruptor for the environment.

The new entries include:

  •  2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol
  • 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol
  • 2-(dimethylamino)-2-[(4-methylphenyl)methyl]-1-[4-(morpholin-4-yl)phenyl]butan-1-one
  • Bumetrizole
  • Oligomerisation and alkylation reaction products of 2-phenylpropene and phenol
  • Dibutyl phthalate (updated entry)
